Circular EcoBIM is a project supported by the EEA Grants that has developed a digital platform based on Building Information Modeling (BIM) to carry out an automated Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and circularity assessment throughout a building’s life cycle. The aim is to promote circular and low-environmental impact solutions in the construction sector. This platform can guide architects and engineers in their design and planning choices to reduce the amount of virgin materials used, the waste produced during construction, renovation and demolition and, ultimately, the embodied impacts.
The project consisted of developing three tools:
These tools will be tested and used to improve the environmental and circular performance of two benchmark demonstration projects: the rehabilitation of the former Matinha industrial zone in Lisbon and Herdade do Pinheirinho in Grândola.
